This is to welcome Doug-my-ex to the Maplepost Digest.
I must let the rest of you know that Doug Wilde is not actually a folkster,
but is very good at playing with folksters and in fact used to play
keyboards for Scott Merritt. I recall that they collaborated on a most
tasteful song about Tim HOrton's, which may have led me to my own later
fascination with the hockey great and his famous chain o' roadhouses.
Mr.Wilde is an excellent composer/keyboard guy, but I'd also like to let
Mapleposters know about certain special gifts of his they may wish to
access.
1. he does the best geezer singing vocal you will EVER hear, and it's in
tune.
2. he's a great arranger, and should you fall on your feet and get booked to
do symphony pop concerts (highly recommended!), he's the guy you should call
to get arrangements done. In fact, I heard once that Boris Brott was
complaining about some BAD charts that some folkie had brought in, and he
said "Doug Wilde, that's the guy they should've called".
You won't want to travel with him, though. he won't let you turn on the
radio.
bye for now,
nancy
ps BIG THANKS TO ERIN BENJAMIN FOR RUNNING SUCH A GREAT CONFERENCE IN
OTTAWA. I'm thinking "Erin for Prime Minister!" She'd have my vote. Of
course it'd be a waste of a perfectly good musician!
