Hi all,
Over the years via these lists, I have compiled a bunch of collective
wisdom re promo kits and what is desired by venues receiving
solicited and unsolicited submissions.
Times are changing. Most performers now have websites. It seems
that all venues may really need as an unsolicited submission is a CD
and a one page cover letter that provides a brief intro and a website
URL, all enclosed in a CD sized envelope. Artistic directors wanting
more promo information and photos can consult the performer's website.
This works on the assumption that performers have developed websites
that contain up to date and comprehensive biographical information
and good downloadable photos if needed.
My query is this. Will the CD/one sheet/website combination work as
promo for the many venues represented on this list?
Since I have crossposted this query to folkbiz, folkvenue and
Maplepost, I will endeavour to put together a common summary when
threads on the individual lists have run their course.
cheers, Vic
