I've been watching and deleting this great debate for what seems to be=20=

an eternity, and I'm convinced that there is an opportunity for some=20
self-help guru to develop a 12-step withdrawal program for all who=20
participate in the cyber-argument.

Vic Bell throws out a number of 400=A0DJ's who submit playlists to
folkdj-l.=A0=A0I believe this is the total number=A0of folks who have =
*ever*
contributed a playlist to folkdj-l since its inception.=A0 Scanning the
archives, I see that Harry Bryan's 'non-Canadian' playlists that he
counts number in the 100-120 range per week, on average.=A0 So=A0Maurice
Hogue's count of 121 regularly contributing DJ's=A0sounds=A0closer to
accurate to me.=A0 Of these, only a portion (60%, he claims) are counted
by=A0Richard Gillman, who compiles his own monthly stats on folkdj-l.=A0
(his computer program only captures lists that use a consistent format
from week to week)

=A0

If we can extrapolate anything, it might be that most playlist
contributors to folkdj-l are: 1) detail-oriented; and 2) probably fast
typists (why would one go through the exercise on a weekly basis,
otherwise?).=A0 As a Virgo and former high-school typing champ, I plead
guilty on both counts.=A0 Caveat emptor to anyone who takes our
playlists as being a representative sample..

=A0

If Richard, like myself, fails to see the utility of such lists beyond
some ego-gratification for those who make the cut, I invite him to
join me in making liberal use of the 'delete' button.=A0
