OUTLAW BLUES OFFERS UNIQUE BLUES AND OLD TIME
MUSIC EXPERIENCE AT HUGH'S ROOM NEXT SATURDAY

Outlaw Blues is a unique concert that's taking place at Hugh's Room
in Toronto next Saturday night (October 5), featuring two bands and
an acoustic player who delve into the sometimes forgotten links
between the blues and old-tIme country music.
The "headliners", The Tarbox Ramblers, are from Boston and
have only played in Toronto once before. A joyful, sometimes grungy
four piece band, led by Michael Tarbox, the Ramblers have a single
release on Rounder (another is due soon), and their rough-and-ready
take on acoustic blues is instantly attractive. In addition to
continual club work, especially in New England, the band has also
been on the road as Robert Plant's opening act.
Mr. Rick & The Biscuits is a loose-limbed Toronto band that's
impressed everyone with its easy-going interpretations of blues, jug
band tunes, and general good-time music, while Montreal's Michael
Jerome Browne is a highly entertaining walking encyclopedia of early
American music forms.
Hugh's Room is at 2261 Dundas St. W. south of Bloor, in
Toronto.  Dinner reservations can be made by calling 416 531-6604;
the show starts at 8.30 p.m. and tickets are $15.00, with a $5.00
discount for Toronto Blues Society members.
