THIS WEEK:
----------

Tue Nov 26	- Fred Eaglesmith
$18adv/$20

This 2nd show added by popular demand!

"Walking the same shadowy streets as Neil Young,
Tom Waits and Steve Earle, Eaglesmith mixes an
edgy blend of folk, country and rock".
         -- Entertainment Weekly

Long recognized as one of the finest songwriters in the
alternative country scene, his songs have been recorded by
Cowboy Junkies, Dar Williams, and most recently Kasey Chambers.
Film director Martin Scorsese has used his songs, as have various
others including James Caan in his new movie "Viva Los Nowhere."

His live performance has been compared to Steve Earle and Bruce
Springsteen for the juxtapostion of manic energy and quiet
intensity, humor and sadness.

Eaglesmith has won a Juno Award, and regularly scores albums
on critics’ top ten lists on both sides of the border. His latest
& 11th album, "Falling Stars and Broken Hearts", with its
burnished blend of alternative country and americana music, is
sure to do the same.

Wed Nov 27 - Quartette CD Release - "I See A Star"
$18adv/$20 featuring Sylvia Tyson, Cindy Church, Caitlin
		  Hanford, Gwen Swick

"There have been few musical moments more exciting
than the appearance and performance of the four women
         who make up Quartette."
             - Peter Gzowski, "Morningside", CBC

Since their first appearance at Toronto's Harbourfront venue in
the summer of 1993, Quartette has quickly become one of the
most electrifying collaborations on the Canadian music scene.
The four women combine formidable individual talents into an
astonishing whole. The soaring harmonies and unique arrangements
create a musical mosaic with flavours of R&B, swing, Cajun,
bluegrass, and gospel, all solidly rooted in traditional country
music.

During their inaugural year, these four talented singer/
songwriters were featured on CBC's popular national radio show,
Morningside with host Peter Gzowski, appeared twice on Garrison
Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion, and toured across Canada
playing festivals and concerts. In September of 1994 they received
the Canadian Country Music Association's award for best vocal
collaboration, and in 1995 & 1996, they received a Juno nomination
for best country group.

Their fresh and beautiful new Christmas collection "I See a
Star", is a lively mixture of traditional and original material,
performed with the group's trademark sparkling harmonies and
unique vocal and instrumental arrangements. Produced by veteran
producer, Danny Greenspoon, the album features 14 songs in an
exciting variety of musical styles blended together in the kind
of seamless performance their audience has come to love.

Thu Nov 28 - Eric Bogle
$22.50adv/$25 [presented by Richard Flohil]
(& Mon Dec 2!)

Eric is an internationally known folksinger, originally from
Peebles, Scotland. Born in 1944, he spent his first twenty five
years in Scotland. In 1969, he emigrated to Australia, first
settling in Canberra. He eventually trained and worked as an

currently lives near Adelaide, South Australia. A gentle man,
he's also one of the most straight forward and nicest people you
could ever hope to meet.

He is best known for is the award winning "And The Band Played
Waltzing Matilda." It was first recorded by June Tabor, and has
been recorded by many other artists since. Other songs he's

Fri Nov 29 - Tim Harrison CD Release- "Wheatfield with Crows"
$16adv/$18 w/ Paul Mills (guitar), Sahra Featherstone
(celtic harp), Trevor Mills (bass), Liane de
		  Lotbiniere (vocals)

“A beguiling songwriter who combines eloquent poetry,
	  interesting and percussive guitar playing"
	          -- Steve Givens, Acoustic Guitar

"An outstanding performer who deserves to be heard!"
-- Sonny Ochs, WRPI-FM/Phil Ochs Tribute Concerts

Tim Harrison is one of Canada's finest songwriters, who wrings
poetry from our everyday struggles and makes those subtle shifts
in imagery that make a great songwriter. Hailing from Owen Sound
and now living in Toronto, Tim made his debut with the appearance
of the much heralded recording, "Train Going East" (prod. by Stan
Rogers/eng. by Daniel Lanois) in 1979. Since then, Tim has recorded six
collections of stirring ballads influenced by the traditions, yet which
have his inimitable stamp.

His new & 7th album, "Wheatfield With Crows", offers his signature
originals, as well as a powerful interpretation of "There But For
Fortune" by Phil Ochs; a musical rendering of one of his favourite
poems, "Sea-fever" by John Masefield; and new arrangements to "The
Song of Wandering Aengus" by W.B. Yeats (music: trad/Judy Collins/
Dave Van Ronk).

Apart from the studio, Tim is also a consummate performer, known
for his delightful wit and uncanny knack for storytelling which make him
an audience favourite.

Hope you can join us for a night of great music, laughter and
celebration!

Sat Nov 30/ - Jane Bunnett CD & DVD Release Party - "Cuban
Sun Dec 1 with Special Guests! Odyssey"
$20adv/$22.50

Join us for two great nights to celebrate the launch of Jane
Bunnett's new CD- "Cuban Odyssey", and DVD- "Spirits of Havana
with Jane Bunnett".

Making music with the celebrated artists she's collaborated with
has taken Jane Bunnett to "some incredible places". "I've always
been drawn to music that's enriched my life, but I never realized
how deep the connection with Cuban music would go. I'm tied to
Cuba."

Bunnett's relationship with that island nation began 15 years
back, when she and trumpeter husband Larry Cramer took refuge
from a typically nasty Canadian winter there and were bitten hard
by the music bug. Since then, they've released several critically
acclaimed albums greatly influenced by the tremendous diversity
that is Cuban music.

Trained as a classic pianist and clarinetist, Bunnett hopped
genres in '78 after hearing Charles Mingus, John Coltrane, Don
Pullen and other artists "who were very much in the jazz
tradition but were open to different sound possibilities."
Studying under saxophonist Steve Lacy and pianist Barry Harris
further inspired Bunnett to investigate uncharted musical territory.

The spiritual nature of Afro-Cuban folkloric music cast a spell
on Bunnett -- she says its openness lends itself to improvisation
-- and for the last decade she's been collaborating with some of
Cuba's most esteemed musicians to create something new... some of
whom will join Jane for the launch... come hear for yourself!!
