Maza Mezé celebrate the release of their third CD "Hypnotika" with a
performance
at Lula Lounge, 1585 Dundas St. West , Toronto, at 9 pm, Wednesday,
November 20. Admission is $10, or $20 (which includes the purchase of the
new CD).
Presented in assocation with Small World Music.

Maza Mezé (Greek and Arabic words for "an assortment of appetizers"), is a
9-piece ensemble that uses explorations into traditional music from Greece
and the Middle East as a launching pad for their own unique and original
sound. "Hypnotika" is Maza Mezé's third CD, recorded and produced by CBC
Records, and recently launched on a new world music sub-label, "Global
Village". The recording features original compositions by the band members
ranging from the reflective to the ecstatic.  Sung in several languages,
the band's compositions are as varied as the cultural and musical
backgrounds of its members.

Maza Mezé includes some of Toronto's finest musical improvisers and
innovators: the powerhouse vocals of JAYNE BROWN, JENNIFER MOORE, MARYEM
TOLLAR and SOPHIA GRIGORIADIS are accompanied by instrumentalists ERNIE
TOLLAR, JOHN GZOWSKI and RICK HYSLOP, and percussionists DEBASHIS SINHA and
JEFF WILSON.

On THURS. NOVEMBER 28 at 7 pm on CBC-TV Maza Meze will be
