Maria Dunn is a well-established songwriter in Western Canada who draws upon
the stories and musical styles of her Scottish-Irish heritage and her
Canadian upbringing in creating her original folk music. She will be joined
on tour by Shannon Johnson, accomplished fiddler and producer, who is known
across Canada for her previous work with Bill Bourne and her current Celtic
band The McDades.

Maria released her second independent solo recording, For A Song, in
September 2001. She has since received 2002 Prairie Music & Juno nominations
in the Roots category, opened the Edmonton Folk Music Festival with a Main
Stage set (August 2002), appeared on BBC Radio Scotland (January 2002) and
her original songs have been featured in Penguin Eggs and Sing Out!
magazines. Produced by Shannon Johnson, the CD has received rave reviews
from folk radio programmers in Canada and the U.S.

Martin Kemp, FFWD / Folkcetera, CJSW, Calgary, Top 5 Albums of 2001
"Incredibly well-penned lyrics and superb instrumentation."

Rich Warren, Midnight Special, WFMT, Chicago, Favourite Recordings of 2001
"Maria Dunn scores twice in a row with this second CD, and noble feat for a
newcomer. Her songs explore people and places in illuminating and highly
poetic detail, sung with conviction."

Folk Roots Magazine, March 2002
"...For A Song is a sparkling and precious rarity."
