Hi All
Just to let you know that Grandad's number #8 story is up on the website an=
d
if you haven't read his short stories that he wrote for The Globe and Mail
in the '60s, this is a good time to get hooked. They are wonderful stories
written in that imaginative and creative style storyteller's wrote with
before Television, Nintendo and computers reduced our subjective minds to
Quaker Oats.=20
Also, if you check out the itinerary you'll see that there are some
wonderful concerts coming up including 'Holiday's in Harmony' cd release
concerts.=20

Grandad's #8 Navy Tradition: Women and Children First
WHile I was sitting in a obscure corner of a well-known restaurant consumin=
g
some herbs such as are suitable to -- and digestible by -- Garrulous
Ancients, three old sailor friends of mine came in and sat at a nearby
table.
They didn't see me in my corner and I didn't make my presence known. A man
who doesn't drink anything stronger than skim-milk is a poor luncheon guest=
.
They were discussing traditions of the British Navy, and for a time there
was some slight debate as to which of the many traditions was highest and
best.
Finally it was unanimously agreed that the tradition "Women and Children
First" stood at the head of the list......

"It's the lovely voices, both individually and together in harmony, that
soothe the ear and warm the heart. Because of the diversity of material,
this is an album that need not be confined to the Yuletide but can be
enjoyed throughout the winter months.=B2 (Robert Reid, Kitchener-Waterloo

the Season=B2 Thursday December 20, 2001)
Hi Nonie!
=A0=A0=A0 Just wanted you to know that I received "Holidays in Harmony" today, an=
d
it was my "treat" when I got home from town. I made a cup of tea, put on th=
e
CD, and relaxed. It's lovely. Being a harmony freak myself I always enjoy
hearing arrangements, and I thought starting the CD with your daughter's
voice was beautiful.
=A0=A0=A0 Thanks so very much, and I hope that your holiday season is (by then)
hobble-free!

Sincerely,

to at last be launching their first CD as a duo, in time for the 2002
holiday season (it was a limited edition release in December 2001) titled:
=B3Holidays in Harmony=B2. For this recording, they are calling themselves the
=B3Snow Angels=B2.=20
"Holidays in Harmony" is a selection of songs that befit the wonder of the
season and the wish for peace in the world =AD borrowed from the traditions o=

gentle Christmas ballads, to haunting Hanukkah pieces in Hebrew and Winter
Solstice rounds. The spare, lovely arrangements focus on the warmth of
Brenda=B9s voice combined with the clarity of Nonie=B9s and are enhanced by the
mandolin and penny whistle of Eugene Rea - and of course, Nonie's
ever-tasteful guitar and harmonica.
Lewis=B9 Jewish roots (Dad) are reflected in two of the songs which she leads=
:
the Gypsy-flavoured waltz: Y=B9Did Nefesh (a Hebrew Prayer) and Blessing for
the Candles (for Hanukkah), and, her celtic roots (Mum) shine through in a
lesser known melody of Auld Lang Syne (first recorded in Canada by Bobby
Watt). As well, she leads a rare alto version of Ave Maria, and, the
Solstice Round.=20
Crete breathes fresh life into old Christmas chestnuts with soothingly folk=

versions of: Silent Night, The Christmas Song, What Child is This and O=B9
Holy Night. Her rendition of Steve Earles=B9 Nothing But a Child could become
a new Christmas classic. Of special note is her 10-year old daughter
Kathleen=B9s angelic recording debut of Away in a Manger.
The CD was recorded at =B3Rea Studios=B2 http://www.reastudios.com in Arkell,
Ontario, engineered by Eugene Rea and co-produced by all three musicians.
