TOM WILSON
A veteran of the Canadian music scene, Wilson is a larger-
than-life figure of a man whose unstoppable personality can fill
a room. His piercing eyes and dynamic performances are coupled
with a voice that is instantly recognizable in a crowd. A writer
and performer of many years, Wilson's eclectic, character-driven
musical style has ranged from the psychobilly punch of the
Florida Razors, to the folk/blues sensibilities of Blackie & The
Rodeo Kings, and the funk/blues inspired rock of Junkhouse.
Now solo, Wilson finds himself energized by the new direction of
his career and feeding creatively off of fresh collaborations...
He's hosting this fine night of Hamilton artists, but we expect
he'll be singing a good few too!

video clips!

LINDA DUEMO
Being the house engineer at Grant Avenue Studio (and working
with artists ranging from Daniel Lanois to The Rheostatics in the
process) might have seemed like big doings, but that was only the
beginning for 17 year old Linda Duemo. By the age of 20 she was
being flown around the world by major labels anxious to work with
her. After years of work for other bands, Duemo settled in BC, and
began to concentrate on shaping her own musical career.
Duemo has an approach that is overflowing in comfortable maturity,
while still ablaze with late adolescent energy. Her artistry and
style defy conventional categorization, as she possesses
versatility, range and instincts rarely seen in popular music.
In her fledgling career, Duemo has already emerged as a savvy
songsmith.

JACOB MOON
"Every once in a while a voice just leaps out at you...
and that's what happened when we heard Jacob Moon."
--Shelagh Rogers, CBC
"Jacob Moon is the best surprise I've had in a long
time...a powerful, distinctive work by a young Canadian
guitarist who blends bittersweet vocals, acoustic and
electric guitar, and jazzy piano for an effect that is
both sincere and sophisticated."
-- Dirty Linen
Fans of Jacob Moon's solo acoustic shows now have good reason to
celebrate. His new CD, "Landing" has landed! Recorded live in
May, this remarkable CD is an intense and emotionally raw
collection of many new Jacob Moon songs, some old ones, and
re-workings of everything from old gospel to Paul Simon. The
concert was videotaped by Bob Lanois and will be released on DVD
soon!

TINY BILL CODY
"A kind, yodeling ogre.... a seven foot urbane urban
folk troubadour"
-- Ric Taylor, View Magazine
Tiny Bill Cody is an artist/musician/performer who plays a raucous
sprawling wood guitar, sings with the occasional delicacy of a
ballerina, and is given to sporadic flights of poetical ranting
and dramatic invocation.

MIKE TREBILCOCK
Until a couple of years ago, Hamilton songwriter Mike Trebilcock
fronted popular pop/rock group The Killjoys, who played to tens
of thousands of young screaming fans across the nation.
His first band The Munday Nuns, jangled their way through
Hamilton's artsy Hess Village gigs in the late 80's. The Killjoys
appeared in the mid 90's, when their independent release "Starry"
was picked up by Warner Music Canada. The band's energetic,
punkified take on finely crafted pop songs made the band one of
Canada's best, and for a few years, one of the most popular with
young audiences.
Eventually however, Trebilcock decided to pursue a solo career
and released an intimate, thoughtful and assured debut, "Shield
Millions" - praise of his solo work has been overwhelming, making
references to his prior band a thing of the past. Come hear for
yourself!

Fri/Sat - Tom Paxton
Nov 8-9 accomp. by Ken Whiteley
$20
Tom Paxton has become a voice of his generation, addressing
issues of injustice and inhumanity, laying bare the absurdities
of modern culture and celebrating the tenderest bonds of family,
friends, and community.
In describing Tom Paxton's influence on his fellow musicians,
Pete Seeger has said: "Tom's songs have a way of sneaking up on
you. You find yourself humming them, whistling them, and singing
a verse to a friend. Like the songs of Woody Guthrie, they're
becoming part of America."
Guy Clark adds: "Thirty years ago Tom Paxton taught a generation
of traditional folksingers that it was noble to write your own
songs, and, like a good guitar, he just gets better with age."
Paxton has been an integral part of the songwriting and folk
music community since the early 60's Greenwich Village scene,
and continues to be a primary influence on today's "New Folk"
performers... & of course he continues to record incredible
songs, the latest of which appear on his brand new release,
"Looking for the Moon".

Sun Nov 10 - Brent Titcomb
$15 w/ very special Guest Ron Nigrini
accomp. by Jason Fowler & David Woodhead
Hugh's Room is pleased to present two of Canada's finest
songwriters for 1 great evening of song!
"When I dive into a song, I am the song," Brent Titcomb will tell
you - as if anyone who's ever heard him needed to be told.
Internationally acclaimed singer, songwriter, musician, comedian,
actor, Brent makes a venue home for his audience whether it's in
New York's funky Bitter End, Toronto's imposing Roy Thomson Hall,
or at unbuttoned festival sites here and abroad.
Brent's early work helped forge the sound of legendary folk/rock
group Three's a Crowd. The group recorded a few singles and one
album, Christopher's Movie Matinee, produced by Cass Elliott of
the Mamas and Papas and Steve Barry on ABC/Dunhill Records.
Brent worked with Anne Murray in the studio and on the road, and
gave her a successful hit when she recorded his composition,
Sing High, Sing Low. His material was also performed and recorded
by Glen Campbell, Andy Williams and the Osmonds. He's furnished
backup for the likes of Bruce Cockburn, Don Ross, Oliver Schroer
and Daisy DeBolt.

Ron Nigrini
In 1967, Ron found himself on stage before 10,000 people opening
for The Mamas And The Papas at Maple Leaf Gardens. In 1969, Tim
Hardin took him to New York city to introduce him as an up and
coming songwriter. In 1971, He stood on the Colonial Tavern stage
with T-Bone Walker's guitar hanging at his knees as T-Bone willed
him to play a solo.
>From 1970-1972, he crisscrossed the U.S. on the National
Coffeehouse Circuit. The Bitter End, The Riverboat, L'Hibou - all
the legendary folk clubs heard his songs. Ron signed with Attic
Records in the mid 70s and released two albums, one of which
contained his hit single "I'm Easy", the Oscar winning song from
Robert Altman's movie "Nashville".
Much has happened since, not the least of which is the brilliant
new CD just released this September called "Songs From Turtle
Island"!
