This is a heads-up that Marie-Lynn Hammond will be the guest soloist at the
following concert:
Echo Women's Choir presents:
WINTER DREAMS
--Sunday, December 9, 3 p.m.
--Eastminster United Church, 310 Danforth Avenue
(one block west of Chester subway).
--Tickets are $10, $5 for un(der)waged, are available at the door.
--For information, call
(416) 537-2526. or visit http://www.echowomenschoir.ca
Echo has performed Marie-Lynn's "Temagami Round" for several years; and
will be debuting their version of "Two Wheel Tango" at this show. This is
the second Toronto choral group to sing "Two Wheel Tango." She will be
guest soloing with them as well as doing three more of her songs.
CHATELAINE
Also, before it leaves the news stands, please get a copy of CHATELAINE to
see Marie-Lynn's third article in the last 18 months. This one, unlike the
other two, does not appear to be in the on-line edition.
It's sort of the next in the series on how MLH is coping/has coped with the
recent losses in her life, but this piece was assigned to her by them (as
opposed to MLH coming to them with an idea). It concerns spirituality.
Hammond says, "As a recovering Catholic, I warned them I would not be able
to write this story without a certain amount of survivor's humour. Luckily,
they let me."
It's on page 179, but that's not Marie-Lynn in the photo. You may ask
yourself, "Why is it a picture of a woman on a horse?" Simple! The story
ends up, as all her stories seem to do these days, on the topic of horses.
And how do horses relate to the soul? Guess you'll just have to read the
article!
Speaking of Marie-Lynn and horses, she is busy working on her new album,
"Pegasus" with David Woodhead and others. We expect to have it out in the
spring.
Cheers,
Richard
