The Battlefield Band play Scottish music of a rare passion and joy. =
Inspired by their rich heritage of Celtic music and fired by the =
strength and vibrancy of today's Scottish cultural scene, which indeed =
they have done much to create and fuel, they have led, and been at the =
forefront, of a great revival in Scottish music. In September 2000, =
Karine Polwart (Malinky, MacAlias), a fine singer, guitarist and =
songwriter, joined the band. It's been a while since a woman was part of =
the line-up and while deeply saddened by the loss of the late Davy =
Steele (band member who passed away Wednesday, April 11,2001 after =
battling a malignant brain tumour), the band are looking forward to the =
next chapter in its history. A new CD "Happy Daze" was released this =
year and is dedicated to Davy. Alasdair White (fiddler, =
multi-instrumentalist, and composer) has recently joined the band to =
take over the band=92s hot fiddle chair. He follows in the foot-steps of =
two good'uns Brian McNeill and John McCusker. Karine & Alasdair join =
veteran band members Alan Reid (keyboards, vocals) and Mike Katz =
(pipes). With this new line-up, Battlefield Band will continue to unlock =
memories you didn't even know you had! Forward with Scotland's past!

Centennial Hall, Chapters (Masonville), HMV (Westmount Mall), Hysen =
Music, The Madrigal, Studio Celtia (Galleria Mall), Village Idiot =

Friday, Nov. 23rd. Other Canadian dates on the tour are: The Grand =
Theatre, Kingston on Nov. 24 and at the Flying Cloud Folk Club, Toronto =
