touche, ricardo. you've got me agreeing with you again, have to watch that
;-) although there is this: the value of your little sister's act (does
she know she's now nationally famous?) is related to it's
infrequency. were it an everyday thing...that's where the netnannies come
in. with white coats, maybe.
the periodic what's-appropriate-to-the-list discussion reminds me of the
"canon" debate that seized up university english departments a while
back. what books should be on an english lit reading list? a prof i had
said something like, "whatever the community feels it is important to
know", which i thought made sense. and that "whatever" is mutable, and to
some extent arbitrary. but it does involve a collective choice.
