On Saturday October 27, Trish and I headed south from the land of low =
density traffic and clean air.. ( Orillia).. to the BIG SMOKE and land =
of the air you can see. We did so in order to be with Joanne =
Crabtree..formerly known as Joanne Hindley-Smith,for her CD release =
party. We arrived at the Free Times Cafe at about 7:45 and found that =
the room was already packed with eager fans who were waiting to hear =
Joanne perform. Fortunately for us, we were invited to share a tiny =
table right at the edge of the stage. We were directly in front of Paul =
Mills, the producer and engineer for the recording, who was playing =
guitar accompaniment for Joanne. Adding to Paul's fine playing was Tom =
Leighton on keys and Bob Hewus on stand up bass. Joanne commented that =
she was just the "girl singer" for the group...not so, we were treated =
to a concert that ranged from some wonderful traditional songs, through =
the blues, a Rodgers and Hart classic, to some fine songs written by =
Joanne and other song writers. For me it was a nostalgic trip back to =
the days when we played The Village Corner and other Toronto venues in =
the '60's. Congrats to Joanne and Paul and here's to your splendid CD
