[mplpost] Sam the Man

In 1974 or so I self - produced and printed my first album "Letters From The
Coast". At that time this was a new idea here in Canada. I believe that only
Stringband, David Essig and maybe a few others were doing this in the folk
world. Ray Materick told me it was "illegal".

I took the first box to Sam's in Toronto.
 
The clerk sent me to the basement where I met Sam the Man himself working in
a tiny office. He listened to my little story and immediately bought the
whole box.

"Sure kid, I'll support you."

Never forgot that rush.

The businesses Sam and his family are involved in today are far reaching and
I believe that the demise of the retail record businesses are only slightly
affected by MP3 downloads.

That doesn't mean we can forget the generosity and support of this fine man.
