Some of my fondest CD purchasing memories date from the time when I was
compiling the first edition of Northern Journey. At the time I was writing
a weekly software review column for the Fast Forward section of the
Toronto Star. Each week when my cheque would arrive from the Star, I would
go unload it at Sams. That's how the first edition was financed.

Sams, and Ossie Branscomb's Country Music Store, were two of my prime
sources of Cdnfolk indie recordings. Sams carried more indie recordings
than the other major stores, at that time at least.

I spent a lot of time in the Sams folk bins. Cherished memories. That's
where I first met many of you ...
