I don't think sharecropping or slavery have much to do with most US blues
artists either, especially not all the caucasian ones.
However we've had our share of misery, poverty, discrimination and
deprivation of rights! Lots of escaped slaves made there way to Canada, and
many other Americans since then, all contributing to our musical makeup.

To me the blues is more about a feeling, than what one's ancestors did.
You feel it in your gut and it makes your heart ache.

BTW unless it's changed since I went to school, Canadian History books don't
cover much of anything, certainly not the history my Grandparents relate!
