Grant,

In response to your 2nd question,  I believe that Blues is rooted in one's
life experience. Usually the down side . Anyone can relate to that no
matter where they are from. I 'm not sure that it has  much to do with
sharecropping or slavery. If it did, your question could also be directed
towards the British(John  Mayall) or White- Americans (Stevie Ray Vaughn).
