Here's the long-awaited CD
debut from the pride of Longview, Texas. A generous selection of 15 country/folk
songs reveals a songmaker of depth, charm, and the best kind of simplicity.
There is humor here-"Aunt Martha" is a dear old lady who's taken
up gambling, and "Nobody Home" portrays a family too contented
with their lives to answer the phone. There's an ironic nostalgia in "Childhood
Days" and "A Girl Like That." "The Unbeliever"
and "Candle in Your Hand" reflect a search for and struggle with
faith. Steve Fisher plays an old sunburst Martin Guitar with skill, and
sings right with it.
"Steve Fisher comes from a long line
of folk artists, Jerry Jeff Walker, Guy Clark, Nanci Griffith and Bill
Staines, who know a good tune when they write one, and better yet, know
how to perform their tunes effortlessly and sincerely."
