| Brandon Scott Besharah has
performed original compositions as a solo guitarist for several years.
He studied under Don Ross, a guitarist of international repute, who shares
his interests in creating new musical possibilities with the acoustic guitar.
Over the past fifteen years, Brandon has performed throughout Canada and
the U.S. at various workshops, festivals, and events. He studied saxophone
and piano in Ottawa and currently teaches guitar and saxophone. Brandon
has written music for several films and performed for many theatre companies.
His extensive involvement with jazz influenced his desire to experiment within the traditional acoustic guitar framework. This resulted in a unique pairing of traditional and nontraditional styles which became the catalyst for the creation of the band, "Attic Salt". Utilizing Brandon's innovative guitar work and artistic vision, the project spiralled outwards into a five-member ensemble whose contributions are now integral to his new musical direction. Attic Salt features the unique performing force of two female vocalists and a wide array of instruments. Members are: Michelle Rasky on vocals, guitar and mandolin; Janet Christie on vocals, violin, guitar and mandolin; Tom Rasky on various exotic and traditional percussion instruments; Mike Witzenhausen on basses, and Brandon Scott Besharah on guitar, vocals and saxophone. Together, they have created an eclectic blend of music that eludes categorization, but thrives without the need for definition.
