Falling
Mountain Music recording artist Andrew McKnight is a singer, songwriter,
guitarist and poet from near Middleburg, Virginia.
His debut CD Traveler, now in its
second pressing, has received critical acclaim and radio airplay nationwide.
Featuring his vivid imagery, evocative guitar work, and songs that draw
out "the extraordinary details in ordinary things" in people
and places from Appalachia to the rural West, Traveler has put Andrew on
the map and on the road.
His dynamic and literate style of music,
deeply rooted in traditional themes with a contemporary touch and tenor,
often invokes comparisons with Americana artists like John Mellencamp,
Pierce Pettis, John McCutcheon and Ricky Skaggs. He weaves threads of spirituality,
optimism and imagery with a homegrown understanding of rural America into
a diverse musical fabric brightly colored by many styles and influences.
The Blue Ridge and Shenandoah Valley he
calls home are a common element in his music, but Traveler is an
apt title for the musical, historical and geographical journeys the songs
take you on. Andrew views his music through a familiar metaphor; "a
song or a collection of songs should be like a river, with gentle bends
and wild rapids, and it should always end somewhere different from where
it started."
